There are many scenarios in which you may end up losing important data. From simple errors to hardware failures, anything can have the same outcome: the files are not accessible, the system can not read them anymore, they are corrupted and so on. Keeping copies of valuable files is a good way to avoid serious headaches, but using a specialized software to perform this task automatically is a better solution. Bamboo File Sync and Backup makes it possible to back up files, synchronize folders or merge them. Experience is not a requirement if you decide to use this program, so anyone can start backing up his data, without any difficulties.

You will not encounter anything out of the ordinary during the setup process. After selecting a destination path and selecting what shortcuts to place, the software will be installed on your computer swiftly. Its system requirements are low and it is compatible with later Windows versions, like Win XP, Vista or Win 7.

Like other similar software, Bamboo File Sync and Backup lets you create multiple backup tasks, called folder pairs and execute them whenever you want or schedule them. They are listed on the interface and you can edit existing pairs, create new ones and more, with the options on the toolbar. If you want to create a new folder pair, a wizard will guide you through four steps, during which you will have to choose between a backup task, file synchronization or a merging of folders, specify two different folders and set the task's behavior.

When selecting the source and destination folders, you can also add filters to include nothing but music, images, videos or Office documents. Depending on what type of task you create, you can set up certain behaviors. The standard backup profile can be set to delete extra files in the output folder or skip identical files. If the synchronization task encounters a conflict, the software can prompt you, resolve the issue by modified dates, use the file versions from one folder or another or skip all conflicts. If you choose the merge feature, you can select an action for each folder, like copying or moving the data to other location, deleting it or doing nothing. You can also select various actions if the files or folders exist in both locations.

After a task has been created, you can select it on the interface and click the Run option on the toolbar to execute it. Alternatively, you can select a second Run option, which will let you select certain actions before the task is executed. If you do not want to create a new task from the ground up, you may copy an existing one and edit it. A unique feature of Bamboo File Sync and Backup is the fact that it lets you create and execute batches of profiles. The batches list can be accessed with a navigation button on the left side of the interface. To create a batch, you need to add your created tasks to a list, on a separate window.

Pros

The modern and sleek look of the interface makes it possible to work with great comfort. Creating, executing or scheduling tasks is not hard. The options are very easy to understand and you will be aided by a wizard as well. The software comes in both free and payed versions, so it is accessible to anyone.

Cons

You can not set the program to add the files to an archive or encrypt them. With its straightforward features and intuitive interface, Bamboo File Sync and Backup will help you back up your important files with minimum effort from your part.
